Glutino Garlic & Parmesan Bagel Chips Review

Glutino Gluten Free Bagel Chips

Glutino Garlic & Parmesan Bagel Chips

I adore versatile multi-purpose foods. That’s why I enjoyed Glutino’s Garlic & Parmesan Bagel Chips so much. They are crunchier, larger, and thicker than other bagel chips I have had. All of those things make them useable in a variety of fun snacks. I Loved the Garlic & Parmesan flavored powder that coated the chips. It reminded me of a perfectly flavored crouton. I immediately thought they would be an excellent addition to my daily salads. The only thing I didn’t care for about them is that they were very unevenly coated. Many had way too much flavor and others had none at all. That did not take away from the many ways I could think of to use them. They are large enough to make snack sized bruschetta with fresh mozzarella, tomato slices, and lots of fresh basil, I even thought that crushed they would be a fun way to coat a few chicken breasts. These are also fantastic on their own, but I have too much fun playing with my food to eat many by themselves. I think a homemade Chex Mix is in my future. 🙂

Glutino Cheddar Crackers Review

Glutino Gluten Free Cheddar Crackers

Glutino Cheddar Crackers

Glutino Cheddar Crackers neither wowed me or turned me away. They were too crispy for what I like in a cracker and lacked the airy crumbliness that I was hoping for. The flavor is just as good as any other cheese cracker I have had. They remind me slightly of what I remember Goldfish tasting like. They would work well as cute party food for topping or dipping. I couldn’t eat more than 2 by themselves but could see myself trying them again with a bit of pepperoni or veggies and creamy cheese spread. I was hoping this would bowl me over but it didn’t. For being a cracker it was good but it did not stand out among the other gluten free crackers I have had.

Glutino Fudge Pretzels Review

Glutino Fudge Pretzels

Glutino Fudge Pretzels

I have a confession to make… I am a chocolate addict. I was ecstatic to find a bag of Glutino Fudge Covered Pretzels in the gift basket that I won. I was afraid to open them because I knew that the bag wouldn’t make it to the end of the day and might not even get photographed if I did. I mean, I lose it over chocolate. After writing reviews for five or so of the other Glutino products that I won the temptation overcame me and I carefully cut open the bag. I greedily scarfed down the first one and it was perfect. The chocolate coating was thick, smooth, and melted nicely in my mouth giving way to the crunchy pretzel inside. I must note that I don’t put salt on my food and I thought these could use more salt to balance the sweet. The lack of salt did not deter me from rummaging in the bag for more, and more, and more of these wonderful fudgy pretzels. If you have a sweet tooth and love a good crunch then these are the perfect thing to satisfy your need to feed. I would highly recommend these although I won’t be buying them often or I would become very fat very quickly.

Glutino BBQ Baked Potato Crisps Review

Glutino BBQ Baked Potato Crisps

Glutino BBQ Baked Potato Crisps

I have always been a fan of baked chips. I don’t like greasy foods and watch my calories. Glutino BBQ Baked Potato Crisps may become a new favorite chip in my house. They have a sweet smoky flavor that is really addictive. I could have easily plowed through a whole bag if I didn’t exercise extreme caution while snacking. The chips are nice and thin while passing the dip test as well. They did not break apart easily leaving chip remnants in my dip.  I will definitely be purchasing these when I see them on sale! I am excited to try the Sour Cream and Onion and Simply Salted flavors soon as well. I seriously need to go hide this bag from myself as I have been eating them while I write and just can’t stop munching happily away on this awesome snack. If you have not already tried them please grab a bag on your next shopping trip. You won’t regret it.

Glutino Lemon Wafer Cookies Review

Glutino Lemon Wafer Cookies

I love wafer cookies. I like to eat them in layers and try to see how perfectly I can separate the cream from the cookie. Yes I am an odd duck. I also really like lemon flavored treats, but they are a tricky flavor to get just right. I was overall not very happy with the Glutino Lemon Wafer Cookies. The first one I pulled out of the package fell apart in layers immediately. I thought “How convenient! Glutino did all the work for me” ,and smiled. I picked up the first crispy layer and took a bite. It was unpleasant. It had no sweetness like a cookie wafer should. The taste was like a plain unsalted rice cracker, very bland. I was hoping that the lemon creme layer I would eat next would win me over. Unfortunately it did not. The cream tasted like Lemon Pledge. I gave the cookie the benefit of the doubt and took a bite from the whole cookie thinking that the flavors combined would make me fall in love. They didn’t. I love Glutino products as you can see from my other reviews. This Lemon Wafer Cookie really missed the mark for me.

Glutino Berry Sensible Beginnings Cereal Review

Glutino Berry Sensible Beginnings Cereal

Glutino Berry Sensible Beginnings Cereal

I am a muffins for breakfast type of girl. Although I have eaten my fair share of cold cereals for breakfast, I prefer warm food and a hot beverage in the A.M. When I did eat more cereal, I ate Special K pre-diagnosis and Cocoa Pebbles (yes, they are gluten free) after my diagnosis. The Glutino Berry Sensible Beginnings Cereal tastes very similar to Special K with Red Berries. The cereal flakes are large and crunchy. They are lightly sweetened so even a child would find them hard to resist. The dried strawberries are melt in your mouth good. The downside is there do not seem to be very many in my particular box. I put this cereal through a few highly scientific tests. 🙂 I like a cereal that can be eaten dry as a quick snack. My boyfriend has sugar issues causing him to need to eat often. That coupled with my Celiac means that we take snacks and a lunchbox with us whenever we leave the house. I could see myself portioning this into snack sized bags and grabbing it on the way out the door. I also tried this cereal with milk. It was equally delicious. I haven’t tried many gluten free cold cereals and the ones I did try were not very pleasing. Glutino Berry Sensible Beginnings Cereal tasted as good as the gluten cereals I remember eating in the past. I took photos before I dug in since I am a messy eater and no one wants to see a half eaten bowl of cereal. Even after sitting for a minute the cereal was still at optimum crunch level and was not soggy at all. I ate while writing so I ate fairly slowly and even the last bite was still crunchy. This could definitely be a way for me to get a quick breakfast when I don’t feel like making my usual hot breakfast.

Glutino Rosemary Olive Oil Crackers Review

Glutino Rosemary and Olive Oil Snack Crackers

Glutino Rosemary Olive Oil Crackers

The Glutino Rosemary and Olive Oil Snack Crackers fill a much needed void in the gluten free cupboard. They have a consistency and flavor that makes them stand out amongst the other brands of gluten free crackers I have tasted. Some are too seed filled to really be called a cracker. Others are too pale and too crunchy in all the wrong ways. The Glutino Rosemary and Olive Oil Snack Cracker, while not the same as a wheat based cracker, is a great savory snack. The cracker is thin and crunchy. The few sesame seeds sprinkled through them gives them tasty little bursts of extra yum(just in case you didn’t know yum and scratch are my two favorite ingredients). They are coated in a garlicky rosemary powder that has a hint of cheese. I was going to stop myself at half a serving but they were so tasty I couldn’t resist eating a full serving instead (11 crackers). The only thing that I did not like was that they seemed to get stuck in my teeth for a while after eating them. I’m going to portion these out into bags to quickly toss in my lunch bag as I fly out the door on my next secret mission. 🙂

Glutino Gluten Free Vanilla Cremes Review

Glutino Gluten Free Vanilla Cremes

I have to start by saying I have never been a fan of vanilla creme cookies ever, period. That being said these compared well with what I remember from childhood. The vanilla cream was sweet but not overpoweringly so. The cookie part had a good crunch without too much crumble. If you are anything like me (and who wouldn’t want to be like me, I’m awesome! 🙂 )what you really want to know is did they pass the milk v.s cookie showdown? Yes, with flying colors. After one dunk they seemed to pick up just the right amount of milk without getting immediately mushy. They softened the slightest bit but still retained their crunch. I like to torture my cookie a bit and hold it under the milk watching the bubbles come to the surface then devour its wonderful mushiness. The Glutino Vanilla Cremes stood up to this harsher treatment without dissolving into nothing or breaking up into the milk. Overall despite my dislike for this type of cookie in general I give this a thumbs up. If you are a fan of vanilla cremes this will surely satisfy your tastebuds just as well as any of the gluten filled varieties.

Glutino Strawberry Toaster Pastry Review

Glutino Strawberry Gluten Free Toaster Pastry

Glutino Strawberry Toaster Pastry

Pop-tarts were a staple growing up in my house. I grew up with the frosted ones but as I got older I learned to like the unfrosted ones best. They at least “seemed” more healthy. When I found out I was Celiac 3 years ago I felt like I lost all connection with breakfast convenience foods. I was overjoyed to read the Glutino facebook announcement that they were coming out with gluten free strawberry toaster pastries. I couldn’t wait for them to come to a store near me. I lucked out in a big way. I entered a facebook contest by submitting a comment on Glutino’s facebook page. They had no knowledge that I was an aspiring food blogger. I won! I won a whole huge box of Glutino products which I will be posting reviews for in the next couple of weeks. I am not nor have I ever been endorsed by Glutino to write these reviews. I just thought this would be a good use of my blog space and a fun thing to blog about. Okay enough about me winning (Hey’ I’m excited I’ve never actually won anything before) and on to my review.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the thickness of these pastries compared to other brands, these babies are twice as thick. Glutino did not waste valuable pastry space on a dry cardboard-like edge like other companies do. The second, and most smile worthy, thing I noticed was the strawberry filling peeking out of both ends of the pastry. They filled these up to eleven with extra strawberry goodness. The Glutino Strawberry Toaster Pastry was overflowing with real strawberry flavor and was perfectly sweet without leaving me feeling like I may have developed a cavity in the process. Let me get back to that lovely crust I mentioned a few sentences ago. This crust deserves a whole sheet of shiny gold star stickers! The texture and flavor are just that amazing. The crust of Glutino’s Strawberry Toaster Pastry is thicker than a normal Pop-tart with flakey air pockets. Now you might be thinking “Air pockets in a gluten free baked good? That’s impossible!” You heard me correctly though I did indeed say air pockets. You may remove your jaws from the floor now. 🙂 The crust reminded me of a cross between a Toaster Strudel and a Pop-tart in all the right ways. It doesn’t have the Pop-tart style cardboard flavored crust or Sahara dry crunch. It doesn’t leave you with the Toaster Strudel greasy fingers and mouth feel. It it has just the right ratio of crustiness and softness. I can’t find any better words to describe it other than YUM! It is a win win in flavor and texture. Who actually drove to Walmart at 10 pm just to buy a toaster? Yup, that’s right, this girl did! A toaster may seem like a mundane kitchen appliance to most people, but I love kitchen gadgets and I was excited. The smell of toaster pastry cooking in my new toaster was almost too good to be true. I wanted to devour it before it even cooled enough to remove it. In summary, the Glutino Strawberry Toaster Pastries are excellent straight from the package for an on the go snack but are well worth the 30 seconds in the toaster for the added toasty flavor and warm flaky crust.

We’ve had much better cardboard.

These cookies taste like cardboard covered dirt and leave a soap like taste in your mouth.
