Twisted! Grain Free Banana Chocolate Swirl Bread

Chocolate Banana Bread

I am a huge fan of chocolate in everything! I even put cocoa powder in my chili. This banana bread is wonderful alone, but we prefer it twisted! The addition of cocoa powder to a portion of the batter takes this breakfast bread and kicks it into the dessert category without many added calories.

Twisted! Grain Free Banana Chocolate Swirl Bread
This banana bread can be made plain or with a chocolate twist.
Recipe type: Breakfast, Anytime
Serves: 12
  • 3 c Almond Flour (or grind almonds in coffee grinder/food processor)
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp kosher or sea salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 bananas (over ripe is best)
  • ½ c brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp melted butter (coconut oil works too)
  • 1½ tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2.5 tbsp cocoa powder (omit for plain banana bread)
  • 12 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ginger
  • Optional: ¼ cup coconut or ½ cup walnuts or pecans
  1. Heat oven to 350.
  2. Spray loaf pan with nonstick spray of choice.
  3. Mix almond flour, salt, and baking soda.
  4. In separate bowl mix eggs, bananas, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and ginger until smooth. A food processor, blender, hand mixer, ect. will all work for this part.
  5. Mix the almond flour into the wet ingredients until well mixed.
  6. Pour around ⅓ of batter into separate bowl. Add cocoa powder to this ⅓ and mix well.
  7. Pour a small layer of banana mixture into pan. spoon some chocolate mix on top. repeat this process until all mix has been used.
  8. Pop in oven for 45 minutes at 350.
  9. Eat! Enjoy!
