Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Staunton, VA
First off, I want to say: No, Five Guys has given me no incentive to write this review and we are no way affiliated with Five Guys. This Five Guys is just that awesome, and impressed me that much.
This is by far the best Five Guys I have ever been in. Where to start…
Laurie ordered her bread free burger and notified the cashier of an allergy. She was then offered the choice having the burger in a bowl, or wrapped in lettuce. Wrapped in lettuce is a great option offered by some restaurants, but this is the first time this offering has ever been made at a Five Guys.
We paid and sat down to wait on our food. While waiting, I noticed the tables in this place were immaculate. We did not have to inspect multiple tables, we did not have to ask to have a table wiped down, nothing. We simply picked a table and sat there. It was great!
Finally, our number was called and I went to get our food. All in three separate bags. Yes, you read that right. They put the fries in its own bag, my regular burger in its own bag, and Laurie’s burger was in it’s own bag. No need to request new fries, no worry of cross contamination, nothing. Just perfect, always delicious Five Guys.
After finishing eating, it was time to hit the road again after a quick bathroom break. At this point, I was pretty convinced this Five Guys must have hired Mr. Clean, because the bathrooms were as spotless as the dining area.
At this point, I don’t know what more I can say Visit this Five Guys, you won’t regret it. Good job guys.
Alan and I are taking a much needed vacation this week. It is our first trip camping in our e350 super duty diesel van. We do not make any specific plans for vacations. We knew we were headed towards Pittsburgh to visit friends but that is it. On Friday evening I realized that the gluten free expo would be happening in DC on Sunday. I was really excited for the opportunity to go and share the experience with all of you. Alan being the sweet sweet man that he is made it happen. We had trouble (lots of trouble) finding a place to park the van to sleep overnight in the DC area. We finally found a Walmart parking lot and it was quite comfy. Continue reading

Wild Turkey American Honey Whiskey
This liquor is gluten free according to the Wild Turkey website. The sweet smooth honey flavor is fantastic. I have tried other honey flavored liquors and this one is by far my favorite. It is way smoother than the Jack Daniels Honey with a sweeter after taste. I will definitely be buying this one again. Continue reading
Here at Gluten Free Girlfriend, we try and remain as neutral as possible, and only deliver the great recipes and reviews you love and crave. But, alas, sometimes some things come up that really make us have to speak up.
South beach diet and their “Gluten Solution” is one of those things. Don’t get us wrong. If you want to try a diet and see if it works for you, by all means, please do. The problem here, is this “Dr. Developed” fad diet makes Gluten free just another silly diet that no one respects. Continue reading
This image is a stock photo. It is not chicken stock or beef stock. It is simply an image I had to pull from the interweb because I got hungry and ate all the stew. No, I did not save you any, sorry. I promise to take photos of my beef stew next time I make it. Until then you get to see this pretty photo which actually looks like my beef stew but with a much better food photographer behind the camera. I can’t seem to make my food look as tempting in photos as it does in real life. Anybody have some tips?
- 2 pounds Stew Beef
- ¼ cup Worcestershire
- 5 tbsp Minced Garlic
- 3 Yellow Bell Peppers diced
- 1 cup broccolli chopped
- 1 cup green beans
