The “Skinny” On Dunkin Donuts Gluten Free Donut And Muffin

Dunkin Donuts Gluten Free Donut

Facebook is overflowing with stories of the new gluten free Dunkin Donuts Cinnamon Sugar Donut and Blueberry Muffin that will be rolling out over the next year across the good old USA. I have done a bit of research and found out the nutrition information and ingredients on these not so skinny prepackaged sweet treats.

The gluten free Dunkin Donuts Cinnamon Sugar Donut will come pre packaged to avoid cross contamination. Here is a photo of the label with nutrition content and ingredients.

I have read others opinions on the taste and consistency but I won’t share that info here. I have not had the chance to try them. With the hefty amount of calories and sodium I may not try them even when they do hit my hometown of Richmond va. If you have tried them or want to sound off on how unhealthy these treats look (they are donuts and I don’t know how the stats stack up to a regular gluten donut) please feel free to leave a comment.

For a tasty healthy alternative to this sugar laden treat you can make my Coconut Flour Donut Cake in 4 minutes in the microwave. It is gluten and grain free and sinfully delicious.

It’s so silly the way things I never would have eaten while not GF are suddenly way more appealing to me when they are available GF. I never liked donuts that much, but I still feel excited about GF donuts. It’s just deprivation twisting its way through the brain, I guess. Your healthified version sounds good, too, though!

Just got the Blueberry Muffin today. I’ve only been GF for a year, so I still sort of remember what gluten things taste like. Maybe their test market was filled with people who’ve been gluten-free so long that they don’t have anything to compare it to? It’s not awesome. It has a weird taste in the background. It’s edible, though, if I should find myself somewhere where I am starving and cannot find anything else. Here in New England, there’s practically a Dunkin on every corner.

Dunkin Donuts should do more research because people that have gluten sensitivity and celiac disease also have soy and other food allergens. Go back to the research lab.

My closest DD is about an hour away, but if I am near there, I ‘ll probably stop by and get my wife some Munchkins. She tries so hard to cook GF for me that I enjoy seeing her enjoy her treats. If they carry these GF items, I’ll surely try them. Are they healthy?, of course not. Did you expect them to be, they’re DOUGHNUTS! For me, a GF diet isn’t a diet ore a lifestyle change for the cool factor, it’s because my insides are damaged and when I was diagnosed I was so anemic I ended up in the hospital getting a blood transfusion. So if DD goes to the trouble and expense to market a GF item for me, I say thanks.
